Why hold a leadership training course on a sailing boat?
Leadership skills cannot be developed solely in the seminar room. On a sailing boat, real-life situations arise in which clear communication, responsibility and joint decision-making are immediately required.
Experiencing one’s own leadership behaviour in specific situations
Communicate clearly and provide guidance
Making decisions and taking responsibility
Reflecting on experiences and applying them to day-to-day management

What to expect at SÄIL
During the leadership training, participants take on various tasks on board, make decisions and coordinate their efforts as a crew. Sailing creates real-life situations in which participants can clearly see and directly experience their own leadership behaviour.
The experiences on board are reviewed together and linked to day-to-day management. We tailor the content and focus in advance to suit the participants and the company’s objectives. No sailing experience is required.
This is how a sailing boat becomes a learning environment for leadership
Conditions on a sailing boat are constantly changing. Course, wind and tasks require clear decisions, clear communication and good coordination within the crew. Leadership is therefore not discussed in theoretical terms, but experienced in real-life situations.
The participants take on different roles and responsibilities on board. This highlights how they provide guidance, communicate decisions and involve others in collective action.
In the subsequent reflections, participants evaluate their experiences and relate them to their own day-to-day leadership practice. This leads to concrete insights and starting points for personal development.
